New communities are taking shape, we're building real projects, and there's plenty happening across the GRC Engineering Club. Welcome to Next Phase, my regular check-in on what we've built, what hasn't shipped, and what's coming up.
Recent Wins & Fail Report
Augusta is in the building! Congratulations to Danielle and Toyeeb and the Augusta leadership team on their kickoff. Different locations, same mission: build meaningful community and help people upgrade their skills. I hosted a mini workshop where we built a risk-register MVP, a practical starting point for a portfolio project.
West Georgia is in the building, too.
Welcome Tranichsha, our regional director, who is working to grow the club's presence and community in West Georgia.
Fail Report: Our Code Reading Challenge is still incomplete. If you enjoyed Day 1, we're hoping to finish it before the end of the month. That's the reality of building in public.

Current Sprint
Show & Fail: We're continuing the hands-on vibe-coding conversation, and a risk-register build is part of the workshop direction. The goal is to help people walk away with the MVP of a portfolio project, not just notes from a presentation.
Build-first mentoring: I've started a small program focused on real projects, stronger judgment, and demonstrable skills. Capacity is limited to a few people, with priority for PRO members. Let us know you're interested.
New membership offer: Eligible students and transitioning service members can join the club for $35 for the first year. See the official student and transitioning service member details for eligibility and renewal terms.
Next Phase
ATL DevFest, October 30–31: We're looking forward to connecting with Atlanta's wider developer and builder community at Morehouse College. See upcoming events.
BFUTR, November 19–20: The chapter will be represented in Toronto. I'll be teaming up with fellow club members Dex-Xavier Copeland and Debjyoti (Deb) Mukherjee for Beyond the Checkbox: Making AI Governance and Digital Trust Work in Practice. We'll be highlighting the GRC engineering movement and connecting it to the broader conversation about AI governance and digital trust.
Assignments
Help us plan what comes next. Our member intake form could use some love. Tell us what you want to learn, build, or contribute.
Come ready for Show & Fail. Bring a GitHub account and a ready-to-use generative AI account. You don't need a finished project or advanced experience.
