Atlanta hit an important milestone: 10 of the 20 members needed on the road to official chapter status.
That puts us halfway to the membership goal, but the number is only part of what matters. We are building a GRC Engineering community for Atlanta that people can learn from, contribute to, and grow with.
Chapter membership remains free. Members can join the Atlanta community, follow local programming, use resources like the Field Guide, and take part in eligible chapter activities without purchasing a paid membership.
Pro membership is an optional way to go deeper into benefits offered through the broader GRC Engineering Club. Those additional perks can be useful, but they are not a requirement for being part of Atlanta's local community.
For members who do want Pro membership, the chapter launch is also a good time to consider it. Atlanta has a special August chapter opening discount available through August 31. It is optional, but the launch offer is limited and worth using if Pro membership is already part of your plans.
Halfway, with intention
President Dwight Turner put the milestone this way:
"We're halfway to the goal and so excited, but the Jump Squad and I are confident the full milestone will be reached soon and we're focused on building with intentionality versus rushing to get official status."
That intentionality matters. Reaching the full membership threshold will move Atlanta beyond its provisional stage and into official chapter status, but we want the community around that milestone to be worth belonging to.
That means useful events. People willing to share what they know. Space for practitioners who are still learning. Projects that turn ideas into something tangible. Connections across GRC, cybersecurity, privacy, audit, cloud, AI governance, and engineering. It also means building a culture where people contribute instead of simply collecting another membership.

If you are already here, invite another Atlanta-area practitioner who would add something to the community. If you have been watching from the sidelines, this is a good time to join while the chapter is still taking shape.
There is room for experienced GRC Engineers, people just beginning to explore the discipline, and technologists who want to better understand the governance side of what they build.
The goal is 20. The bigger goal is a community that still matters after we get there.
